About EVON

Grab a coffee, make yourself comfortable, and let me tell you the story of who I am and how Spiral Press Productions came to be.

I was born in Florida, within viewing distance of the rockets that launched men to the moon, but my family moved to Colorado when I was five, so I grew up exploring the Rocky Mountains.

When people asked me, “What do you want to be when you grow up?” I thought, “An astronaut, an actress, or Captain Kirk’s wife.” It didn’t take long before I realized what I wanted was to write science-fiction novels.

After graduating from the University of Denver, I followed my dream of earning a Master of Fine Arts Degree in Creative Writing and graduated with an MFA in Creative Writing from Western Colorado University.

For two decades, I’ve worked as a freelance developmental editor for clients who are writing novels and memoirs, and taught creative writing and blogging at Colorado Free University. I published flash fiction in the Fast Forward Anthology and Green Theory & Praxis: Elemental West. Over the years, I have finaled in 5 contests with my science-fiction, fantasy, speculative, and magical realism novels.

My novel, VR, won first place in the science-fiction category of the Rocky Mountain Fiction Writers contest in 2018 and is now in the process of being published with a series to follow.

I received an honorable mention in the 2021 Hemingway Short Story Competition for my short story, The Droughts of Kilimanjaro.

I built a following on YouTube with nearly 6,500 subscribers to date and have a screenwriting credit on IMDB for Glitch, a short sci-fi film. My dream is to see VR become a Hulu or Netflix series.

In the meantime, I put my screenwriting and film editing skills to use making cinematic book trailers, writing and adapting screenplays for film and television, and editing videos for YouTube and social media.

In the summers, I retreat to my mountain cabin to read, write, and commune with nature. I find it’s so much easier to write in the wonky, hand-built writing room of my DIY cabin, tucked away in the forest.
